At Character & Community, our approach to supporting children, families, and communities is grounded in understanding, collaboration, and practical, evidence-based strategies that create lasting change.
We empower families and educators to help children thrive through individualized behavior and learning supports. Drawing from PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) and ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis), our work blends compassion with proven practices to promote meaningful growth, confidence, and long-term success across home, school, and community settings.
We understand that every child’s needs are unique, and meaningful support doesn’t follow a one-size-fits-all model. That’s why our work is guided by a thoughtful, collaborative process that allows us to understand each child, partner closely with families and educators, and implement strategies that are both practical and sustainable.
Our approach moves through four core stages, each designed to support growth, build confidence, and promote lasting positive outcomes.
Assess
We begin by taking time to understand each child’s unique learning profile, strengths, and environment. Through Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), observation, and data-informed practices, we identify the factors influencing behavior and learning to ensure support is rooted in understanding rather than assumptions.
Plan
Using what we learn, we develop individualized, measurable plans and goals that address social-emotional and behavioral needs. These plans are created in collaboration with families and educators, ensuring strategies are meaningful, realistic, and aligned with the child’s daily environments.
Support
Support is delivered through a combination of direct services, group programs, coaching, and ongoing collaboration. Our approach remains flexible, allowing us to adjust strategies as children grow and needs evolve.
Empower
Our goal is long-term impact. We focus on building confidence, independence, and skills in children while strengthening the capacity of families, educators, and communities to sustain progress beyond our direct involvement.
